Captain America

Captain America is one of the biggest characters in comic books. It is surprising that Marvel’s Captain America has not yet been made into a feature film.

Captain America, like Wonder Woman, wears a very patriotic costume. A Captain America costume is all red, white, and blue.

Captain America wears blue tights. Over these he wears distinctive red boots. These boots are unlike most superhero boots in that they are not tight to his skin: they fold over at the top and look and bit floppy. These boots are reminiscent of the boots you would picture Robin Hood wearing.

Typically, Captain America wears a thin black belt, which is sometimes drawn gold. Above the belt, until just above his ribcage, there are red and white thick vertical stripes, and then the blue leotard resumes. This belt has become a utility belt in the new comics.

Captain America wears a white star in the middle of the blue leotard over his chest. He has a mask that doesn’t cover his mouth or nose, with two little white wings that extend from the top and sides (these look remarkably like ears). Captain America’s chest and shoulders are covered in scale-mail for protection (think of this like a hockey player’s chest protector, but for a superhero!)

After short blue sleeves on his mail, Captain America has white sleeves that extend into red gloves. Like his boots, the red gloves are not tight: they extend outwards from his forearm in a dramatic flare.

Captain America’s shield is possibly his most recognizable trait. This plain circular shield is rimmed three concentric circles: red, white, and red. The centre of the shield is blue, sporting the same large white star as on his chest.
